We
are approximately 30 minutes from the airport.
Brief directions from the airport are as follows:
- Take the main road out of airport (route #380)
- turn Left at the second stop light onto route #36,
the Hana Hwy, at the corner with K-Mart
- drive East about 10 minutes to Paia town.
- continue past Paia on Hana Hwy. for a total of 10 miles to Aloha Maui.
The highway mile markers will increase to "16" and then reset at the
intersection of route #365 and the Hana Hwy. which changes its designation
at that point to route #360
- continue on the Hana Hwy 0.9 miles past mile marker ?1?
and take Left on Ulalena Loop, (If
you arrive at Hoolawa Bridge and reach mile marker "2" at
the Twin Falls juice stand you went one block
too far.)
- Drive down Ulalena Loop nearly a mile until you come to the first
stop sign which has a street sign above it indicating Loomis Rd.
-
go Straight on Loomis Road 1 block to the
fork, do not turn right back onto Ulalena
- take Right at fork, you will see a “Private
Road” sign
- 2 "city blocks" to our driveway with the number 101 and
proceed down to the right
Navigating inside our property:
- the Mango Cottage is the first house
on the property
- The driveway to the left of the Mango Cottage leads to the Jungle
Palace.
- The Jungle Palace is at end of drive facing the
cul-de-sac
- The driveway to the right of the Mango Cottage leads to the main
house and the Banana Room located on the ground level
with a separate entrance next to the laundry room. The parking area
for the Banana Room is to the right of the main house indicated by signs.
If in the highly unusual case we are not here, please make yourself at home.
We'll be back shortly. (We always plan to be here on your arrival).
Detailed directions from the airport to our property:
Take the main road leading away from the airport to town - Kahului - (there
is only one road known variously as route #380, Dairy Road or Keolani
Pl.) Follow it straight to the second stop light where there is a K-Mart
plaza. Turn left at K-Mart onto the Hana Hwy (route # 36).
Within 10 minutes you will pass through the historic plantation town of
Paia. There you will find a wide variety of restaurants, cafes, boutiques,
a health food store, bank, general store and gas stations. We are approximately
20 minutes (about 12 miles) from Paia.

will find a wide variety of restaurants, cafes, boutiques, a health food
store, bank, general store and gas stations. We are approximately 20 minutes
(about 12 miles) from Paia. Stay on the Hana Highway. It passes through
Haiku where you may notice the Haiku Community Center on your right. This
is the half way point between Paia and Aloha Maui B & B. The mile
marker signs will go up to "16" and then the mile markers start
at "1" again at the intersection with route #365 (coming from
Makawao town on your right). Stay on Hana Highway (which is now designated
as route #360) for about a mile and a half after you pass this intersection.
You should be looking for our street sign (Ulalena Lp) which will be
on your left (ocean side of the highway) set on top of a stop sign. To
help you spot it, there are about a dozen mailboxes and a telephone pole
on the right hand side of the road opposite the Ulalena Lp. sign. There
may be one or two roads before with mailboxes on the right side of the
road, so wait until you see the "Ulalena Lp." sign.
(If you miss seeing Ulalena you will immediately be at Hoolawa Bridge
(there is a sign), a wide expanse in the highway with a mobile juice stand
on the right hand side during daytime hours. This area is known as
Twin Falls). Just turn around and come back to Ulalena. Cautionary note:
there is another Ulalena past the bridge ( since it is a loop) but do
not make the mistake of taking this second Ulalena. Take the one with
the telephone pole and yellow arrow across the street or you will end
up at a competitors B & B !
Turn left on Ulalena. The pavement will soon turn into a gravel road.
There are some bumpy spots but nothing really too bad (or so my blue Toyota
with the tiny tires has told me). This is typical of rural Maui or as
we optomists say, an opportunity to slow down your pace of life! Please
drive slooowly however, if it is already dark. Proceed about 1/2 mile
until you cross a cement bridge spanning a creek.
Continue on the main gravel road. Soon you will see another road sign
for the continuation of Ulalena Loop. It is set on top of a stop sign
which is facing in the opposite direction of where you are coming from.
This is the crossroads of Ulalena and Loomis Road. Take Loomis Road -
DO NOT CONTINUE ON ULALENA PAST THIS POINT or you will find yourself on
what some have termed a "goat trail". If this happens you have
gone too far! Proceed on Loomis Road - it is quite short- you will pass
a green water tank on your left.
When the road splits soon thereafter take the right fork.
(You may notice a sign which says Private Road. This is the right road.)
Proceed a short way until this runs into our driveway identified by our
sign with the number 101.
You are here! E como mai.
As you proceed down the driveway the first house you come to is the Mango
Cottage. The driveway that goes around to the left of the Mango Cottage
leads to the Jungle Palace.
The driveway to the right of the Mango Cottage leads to the main house
and Banana Room located on the ground level with a separate entrance.

home.
We'll be back shortly.
